sticker_small-copie-1.jpgFebruary 8 & 9, 2011- Microsoft office on Market Street – Sensio Labs is a digital agency specialized in Open-Source software and the creator of the Symfony PHP framework. Symfony Live, a conference on Symfony and the PHP platform, fits nicely in Sensio Labs goal to evangelize developement best practices in the PHP world through its framework.


Organized by Sensio Labs, the Symfony Live conference is supported by Microsoft, Dell, ServerGrove, Apostrophe, NationalField, Pagoda Box, and OSS Cube. Symfony Live 2011 is a unique opportunity for the 200 awaited participants to meet the Symfony community, talk with the Symfony core team, and share experiences about the framework. In addition to the conference, Sensio Labs is going to organize a free hacking week-end on February 5-6st.


Created in 2005, Symfony is a full-stack Open-Source framework written in PHP. It provides an architecture, components, and tools for developers to build better and sustainable web applications. Symfony is used by big companies like Dailymotion and Yahoo!, but also many other small and big websites around the world.

  • Keynote: « The path to Symfony in the USA » – Dustin Whittle. This talk will examine how Symfony and the community around Symfony has evolved since 2006 in the US. From the release of the initial symfony code to symfony 2.0, and all of the community milestones along the way.

  • Keynote: « Symfony2 » – Fabien Potencier. Fabien Potencier is a serial entrepreneur and the lead developer of the Symfony framework. He will talk about the new Symfony2 version and how it will change the way developers create websites on the PHP platform.

  • Presence of internationaly recognized lead-developers: Nils Aderman from phpBB; Jonathan Wage from Doctrine; Fabien Potencier from Symfony.

  • An exclusive talk about Git – Scott Chacon. Scott is one of the most important Git evangelist and a developer at GitHub.com. Git is a distributed revision control system with an emphasis on speed. It was initially designed and developed by Linus Torvalds.

At the time of the event, Sensio Labs will also announce the launch of its offices in San Francisco, a service company around Symfony (consulting and trainings). This office will be managed by Dustin Whittle, ex-Yahoo! and Symfony expert.


Sensio Labs will also announce the first Release Candidate of Symfony2, a version of the framework already used by many startups in USA, like OpenSky (http://shopopensky.com/) and Exercise (http://www.exercise.com).
